Description 

Students are to continue with previously chosen channel in Individual Assignment 1 to create a channel ident motion graphic video. 

Requirements : Students are expected to: 

• use information for any proposed channel (*existing or fictional) 

• create mood board that reflects their concept/idea 

• prepare style guide that conveys final look & feel 

• create a storyboard

 • create animatics

 • explore appropriate audio to uplift the motion tempo

 Channel information

This channel is a You tube channel that focused on content about music. the content are mainly about music instrument like recorder, keyboard, kalimba, and guitar. It involve tips for beginner, easy song to play with,  musical instrument care tips and some song cover. it could be a motivation for others who is still hesitate to developed a new hobby or to explore something new.

For my channel name, i choose to go with melophile name. the term "Melophile" used to describe someone who loves music or has a deep appreciation for music. The word is derived from two Greek roots, "melos," meaning "song" or "music," and "phile," meaning "lover" or "enthusiast." So, a melophile is essentially a music lover or someone who is passionate about music in various forms and genres. As for the channel logo, i choose to use treble clef as main element as treble clef is widely used in music regardless what instrument and genre. Everyone know that the treble clef is related to music even if they are not into music.

Moodboard

The modboard here contain the visual collage or collection of images that represent the desired mood, style, or theme for a my channel ident. Based on this moodboard, i get the inspiration of colourful rainbow with pastel colour and apply it to create pastel-rainbow-theme music channel.

Typography

for this channel Ident, i decide to use sans serif font. Sans-serif fonts in canva name 'Bowlbyonesc' are used for typography because of their clean and modern appearance. The absence of decorative strokes at the ends of characters in sans-serif fonts makes them more legible, especially at smaller sizes and on digital screens. For me, the clarity is crucial for channel typography as it ensures easy readability and quick recognition, and enhancing the overall visibility.

Colour Scheme

For the colour scheme, I decided to use combination of muted Pastels colour. Muted Pastels and muted tones have a low hue saturation, meaning they are mixed with white to create softer versions of their brighter counterparts. I decided to choose pastel colors because they are evoking a sense of calmness, tranquility, and simplicity.

For pastel colour itself, i decided to choose the combination of rainbow pastel due to several reason.  From my point of view, i can see similarity between rainbow and music. First of all, the vibrant and diverse colors of a rainbow are identical to the rich and varied tones in music. like the colors blending seamlessly in a rainbow, different musical elements come together to create a beautiful and harmonious composition. Moreover, both rainbows and music have the ability to transcend language barriers and communicate universal emotions, making them profound and uplifting forms of expression that resonate across cultures and communities. That is the methapore i see in a rainbow and music.

I really like kinetic typography especially the fast beat one. The way the audio sycn with the typography will make viewer pay attention to what i try to convey.  these kinetic typography are some example of fast beat typography i try to implement in my channel ident.  

 

Audio Choosen

For the audio. i choose an upbeat music with modern touch. This is all because fast beat audio catches attention due to its ability to stimulate the brain's auditory processing centers rapidly. The human brain is wired to respond to rhythmic patterns and changes in sound frequencies, which trigger heightened alertness and focus.This attention-grabbing quality makes fast beat audio effective for capturing attention in various contexts, such as advertisements, music, and multimedia presentations, where immediate engagement is desired. Moreover, The energetic and lively tempo, coupled with uplifting melodies and rhythmic patterns, tends to induce feelings of joy and excitement.

Storyboard

Storyboarding is essential in creating animation because it serves as a visual blueprint or roadmap for the entire animated project. It helps animators plan and organize the sequence of scenes, ensuring a coherent and engaging storytelling experience. By sketching out each key moment, the storyboard provides a clear outline of the narrative, helping animators visualize character movements, camera angles, and transitions. So, this is the early storyboard i make to visualize the idea of my channel ident. the final result are created based on this storyboard with a bit of alteration.

Animatic

For the channel ident, I use Capcut as main application to edit everything. The channel ident start off with fast Kinetic typography. From 00:00 to 00:01, four word appear which is 'colourful', 'life', 'with', 'music', the word 'music' appear two times which the first one is appeard alphabet by alphabet and the second one is a whole word using random bounce animation.

To move to the next frame, i apply split transition. Then, at 00:02, then word 'learn' and 'instrument' appear using slide right and slide left respectively. Then, panning trasition used and word 'various' appear. Then transition wipe down and word 'genre ' appear using wipe down.

At 00:03' frame change using wipe up trasition, word 'to' appear. Then on 00:04, word 'explore' appear using zoom out animation. At 00:05, background colour of the frame changed from blue to green to sync with the audio. Then, two dot appear to sync with the audio beat.

At 00:06-00:14, instrument appear one by one. For the instrument appearance, i use combo slice and rotate animation for all nine instrument. The background of each instrument will interlaced between two colour which is pastel yellow and pastel orange.

At 00:15, swirl stock video with green screen used. It Swirl to the center and the logo appear using combo rotate fade and channel name using zoom out animation from center at 00:16-00:17.

Reflection

Completing the assignment was both fulfilling and challenging. I learned a lot along the way, and it feels great to have finished it. By doing this assignment, i get to be more imaginative and try to be as creative as i can. Moreover, i find myself start to explore new style and concept of design which is out of my comfort zone. Creating this channel ident will be useful for me as i got to build and polish my skill in designing even if it just a bit. It wasn't always easy, but the sense of accomplishment makes it worthwhile. Thus, this assignment is really helpful in many way. Whether for university assesment or for personal individual skill.
